Plainview Firefighters Free Victim From Wreck

Crews cut victim from crash on South Service Road of LIE.

Emergency crews decended on the South Service Road of the Long Island Expressway Tuesday and freed a woman trapped inside her car.

and Nassau County Police found the victim trapped inside her car near the store on the Service Road near Round Swamp Road. The vehicle's passenger side door had been crushed in on her.

The accident occurred in the vicinity of the exit ramp from the eastbound lanes of the LIE onto the South Service Road.

Firefighters used the "Jaws of Life" and other hydraulic cutting tools to free the woman from the wreckage.

She was transported to a local hospital by Nassau County Police ambulance with non-life threatening injuries, firefighters said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
