A driver lost control of his vehicle on the westbound Long Island Expressway Sunday night and rolled down an embankment, firefighters said.
Nassau police units and the Plainview Fire Department responded to the 9:05 p.m. call for help and found the car upright on the service road of the expressway near Sunnyside Boulevard. The vehicle had knocked over a street lamp.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to Nassau University Medical Center by police ambulance; his condition was not available.
Firefighters secured the scene of the crash and police conducted an investigation of the cause of the accident, authorities said.
