Raging Fire Destroys Hicksville Garage

Firefighters attack morning blaze head on as it extends to nearby house; no injuries reported.

A raging house fire on Salem Road in Hicksville Tuesday morning was tackled by a swarm of Hicksville and other nearby fire deparments.

Firefighters received multiple calls for help about 8:38 a.m. for the blaze on Salem Road near 10th Street.

Arriving units found a fully involved detached garage on fire with flames extending into the home. Engine 932 used its deck gun to darken down the fire while crews stretched hose lines to the garage and into the house, firefighters said.

The fire was brought under control and no injuries were reported. Chief of the Department Christopher Moskos was in command of the operation.

Multiple Fire Departments were called to the scene including Westbury, East Meadow and Bethpage. Firefighters from Levittown, Plainview and East Meadow stood by at Hicksville's Station No. 1 to handle any other emergency calls.

The Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire that destroyed the garage, firefighters said.
