A smoky car far caused big traffic headaches on the Long Island Expressway Tuesday afternoon from Syosset to Plainview.
The car caught fire just off Robbins Lane between exits 42 and 43 of the LIE. Robbins Lane is part of the LIE's service road.
Syosset firefighters responded and put out the smoky blaze. The right lane of the westbound LIE was closed during the operation, causing heavy traffic delays in the area at rush hour.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. No injuries were reported.
