Tanker Spill Closes Down Intersection in Inwood

Roadway has now been reopened in both directions after truck overturned early Wednesday morning.

Police reopened Burnside Avenue and Rockaway Turnpike about 24 hours after a tanker carrying about 7,500 gallons of gasoline overturned on Wednesday and spilled its contents on the roadway.

Firefighters from several fire departments were on the scene containing the incident.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Well, just wait until Costco has their 22 bay gas station up and running on Rockaway Turnpike. This is only a taste of the traffic mess we're going to be experiencing, except it won't go away if Costco gets their way.
