Tell Us: Community Support

What can Port Washington residents do to help make our roads safer?

The Port Washington Police Commissioners aim to work with the community to help make our roads safer for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and crossing guards.

They encourage feedback from responsible residents, and point out that police can't be everywhere. What suggestions do you have to get buy-in from drivers so that they don't text, speed, roll through stop signs, and make illegal u-turns?

The commissioners plan to hold meetings with parent associations in September. Do you have ideas for additional outreach? Tell us in the comments.

More, better PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. Port Washington CAN become a more sustainable town AND keep cars off the streets.

Obviously it is hard for you. Bicyclists and Joggers have a right to the road too. You have no right telling them otherwise despite what you may think.

There should be no issue making a left turn onto Shore Rd if the drivers on Shore Rd were obeying the posted speed limit. If we enforce the laws we already have, then we do not need to inconvenience the law abiding.

Gail, you should reread your original post. NYB was merely replaying your own words.
