A flat bed towing truck erupted into flames Monday morning at about 11:30 a.m. on the service road of the LIE, just west of Round Swamp Road. The Plainview fire department responded to the scene and there were no injuries reported at the scene.
The flames appeared to originate from the engine of the truck and soon melted holes into the drivers side door. Firefighters quickly responded to control the fire with a pressurized water hose to extinguish the blaze. Smoke from the tow truck rose above the service road of the LIE as the fire ceased.
