Patch looks back on the biggest stories of the week in Plainview.

Here's a look at the top stories on during the last week.

The first of several benefits for , a Plainview stricken with cancer, was a huge success on Friday, drawing about 300 visitors to the Plainview Fire Department Headquarters and garnering about 140 donors, organizers said.

: The benefit events for Spencer were sobered this week by the death of , a Mattlin Middle School 7th grader who died Monday from cancer.

The liberation of the was remembered Monday at the American Airpower Museum in East Farmingdale. Holocaust survivors and some of the U.S. veterans who helped liberate them, told their stories. All insisted we "Never Forget."

We reported on Tuesday that a Melville pharmacist has been charged as the ringleader in a massive scheme to distribute black market prescription HIV drugs and defraud the Medicaid program of $155 million, law enforcement officials said.

Police reported a spate of graffiti attacks in the Syosset and Plainview area and several major thefts. Reported burglaries maintained their downward trend.

Richard, I agree. This road has so many potholes that were fixed, it dips and the county trees haveRead More lifted it up in areas that now hold water. I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
