Patch looks back at the news highlights of the first week of January.

Plainview's first week of January brought stories of stunning contrast. We wrote about a public denunciation of a menorah desecration, where our community stood up to bias and hatred. We also wrote about talented Plainview kids standing up and performing wonderful music.

Here are the news highlights of the week of Jan-1-7:

Plainview's and community members joined state Assemblyman , D-Glen Cove, on Burton Radish's lawn Thursday. It was a public denunciation of the forces of anti-semitism brought about by the the occurred during Hanukkah.

Nearly 70 people took our poll on About half of our voters said the intersection of along with the eastern exit were the town's worst. We plan a story later this month on what to do about it.
