Worker Found Dead at Melville Sand and Gravel Plant

23-year-old Queens man found near his truck Monday; pronounced dead at the scene.

A Queens man working at a Melville industrial site was found dead near the back of his commercial truck Monday afternoon, police said. 

Police were called to 110 Sand Co. at 136 Spagnoli Road at 1:11 p.m. after employees saw the body of Edy Zambranovera, 23, lying on the ground.

Zambranovera "suffered significant internal injuries" and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. 

Police did not specify how Zambranovera may have been injured. He was an employee of City Recycling in Brooklyn.  An autopsy will be conducted as the investigation continues.

The sand pits are located west of Route 110 and east of Round Swamp Road in Old Bethpage. Oyster Bay's Solid Waste Disposal Complex in near the site.
