Bethpage Tap Water in Competition

Goes up against Dix Hills Monday; the winner challenges bottled water Tuesday

The winners of the Nassau and Suffolk counties Best-Tasting Water Contest will contend for the best water on Long Island.  Bethpage Water District of Nassau and Dix Hills Water District of Suffolk will fight for the title.

Long Island Water Conference Chairman Karl Schweitzer said the winner of the Nassau-Suffolk battle Monday will then go against the presumed goliath: bottled water, on Tuesday. Industry providers have known that tap water is one of the best sources of water, and now it is finally getting put to the test.

“With Long Island being the home to one of the most abundant natural water reserves in the country, residents must see how our home-town heroes stacks up to the professionals.” Schweitzer said.  “Our goal is to not only provide our residents with the purest, best-tasting water on Long Island but to shed light on the community on how lucky we are to have such great water,”

Residents are invited to take part in these competitions in order to find the true aquatic avenger.  The competitions will occur on Monday, June 27 at Lido Beach Park, Tuesday and June 28 at the Town of Babylon’s Cedar Beach.

“Our local water suppliers work diligently to protect this precious resource from contamination and ensure that the water we deliver is not only safe and reliable but great tasting as well,” Chairman Schweitzer said.  “We want to hear what the public thinks and we want the public to know the true prowess of their water.”
