Challengers for Jacobs' Seat Face Off

Both men appear on the Republican and Conservative lines in today's primary election.

Two men will face off in today's primary election for an opportunity to face Incumbent Democrat Judy Jacobs and a place on the Nassau County Legislature.

The two are Bruce P. Kennedy, Jr. and James Milano, whose names appear on both the Republican and Conservative party lines for the 16th Legislative District.

The Nassau County Republican Committee has endorsed Milano, a medical doctor who ran unsuccessfully for Congress against Queens Democrat Gary Ackerman in 2010. There are no candidates listed or endorsed on the on the Nassau County Conservative Committee's website as of early Tuesday morning.

Neither man have been very visible so far in the campaign.

Jacobs, the popular incumbent from Woodbury, is in her eighth two-year term as a county legislator. She has held the seat since the legislature was formed in 1995.

The 16th Legislative District includes all of Plainview and Syosset along with Bethpage, Cove Neck, East Norwich, Jericho, Laurel Hollow, Muttontown, Oyster Bay, Oyster Bay Cove, and Woodbury.

Residents in the 16th district were mailed a postcard from the Board of Elections in August with the location of their local polling places.

The postcard indicates a resident's election district number, which voters need on primary election day.

Residents who don't have that information can e-mail their complete home address to
info@boe.nassaucountyny.gov/agencies., according to the Nassau County Board of Elections website.

Generally, residents should vote in their regular polling place for general elections.
