Councilwoman Continues 'Gatsby' Push

Plainview's Rebecca Alesia urges TOBAY residents to keep reading through August.

Oyster Bay Town is reminding residents that their due date for the very first "One Town, One Book" assignment is Aug. 22, when a special finale event will be held at the nearby Hicksville Community Center.

A discusion and lecture about Jazz Age masterpice takes place Wednesday Aug. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Hicksville Community Center

The first town-wide book club has generated great interest at TOBAY libraries, reported Alesia, and have renewed interest in the classic film adaptation of the book starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow.

"We chose 'The Great Gasby' as our inaugural book for a few key reasons, including its widespread accessibility at local libraries, its local appeal, and the many interesting parallels between the book's setting of 1920s New York and today," said Alesia.

The finale of the effort is scheduled at the Hicksville Community Center Aug. 22 at 7 p.m.

Richard, I agree. This road has so many potholes that were fixed, it dips and the county trees haveRead More lifted it up in areas that now hold water. I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
