Polls Closed; Results Coming [VIDEO}

Results from the local elections will be posted soon. Earlier, voters had their say.

The polls are now closed and the results from Tuesday's elections are being tallied.

The polls closed at 9 p.m.

Patch will have extensive coverage of the election throughout the evening and into tomorrow, if necessary.

Here are the races we're covering Tuesday night.

The Races

If you live in the Plainview area, you were voting for governmental seats in the Town of Oyster Bay and the Nassau County Legislature. This is an "off year" election, meaning there's not a lot more happening. For example there are no major referendums on the ballots.

The Candidates

Town of Oyster Bay

  • Supervisor: (Republican Incumbent) vs. (Democratic Challenger)
  • Town Board: (Republican Incumbents) vs. (Democratic Challengers) Board candidates are elected "at large," rather than from specific districts, so top three vote-getters will win.
  • Town Clerk: (Republican Incumbent) vs. (Democratic Challenger)
  • Receiver of Taxes: (Republican Incumbent) vs. (Democratic Challenger.)

Nassau County Legislature

District 16: (Includes Plainview, Woodbury and Syosset) Judy Jacobs (Democratic Incumbent) vs. James Milano (Republican Challenger)

District 14: (a portion of Old Bethpage) (Republican Incumbent) vs. (Democratic Challenger)

Richard, I agree. This road has so many potholes that were fixed, it dips and the county trees haveRead More lifted it up in areas that now hold water. I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
