UPDATE: Jacobs Scores Easy Victory in 16th Legislative District

Defeats challenger Imbroto by about 4,000 votes.

Veteran incumbent Judy Jacobs, a member of the Nassau Legislature since its inception, cruised to an easy victory over her Republican challenger in Tuesday's election for Nassau's 16th legislative district.

With all the precincts reporting at midnight, Jacobs, D-Woodbury, led Republican Lou Imbroto , 9,426 (or more than 63 percent of the vote) to 5,452 (37 percent) in unofficial returns.

Imbroto, a Republican from Plainview, ran unsuccessfully last year in a race against Assemblyman Charles Lavine, D, Glen Cove.
