Jacobs Thanks Voters, Looks Ahead

The Woodbury Democrat says she will continue to look out for residents in the 16th Legislative District.

Incumbent Democrat thanked her consitutents Wednesday for returning her to the Nassau County Legislature.

“I am speechless at the show of support from the residents I represent”, said Jacobs, D-Woodbury.

She said she is "honored and humbled" to have received the district's support for another two years as the representative of the 16th District.

Jacobs said she will continue to address constituent issues, "large and small," and devote herself to speaking to and finding solutions for all her residents.

Jacobs scored a decisive victory Tuesday, defeating Republican challenger in the race for her long-time seat on the Nassau County Legislature with nearly 60 percent of the vote. The final tally was 6,613 for Jacobs and 4,506 for Milano.

Milano is a medical doctor whose only previous political experience was in a failed bid for Congress last year against Queens Democrat Gary Ackerman.

“I believe that having been a civic leader for so many years, prior to being a Legislator, has given me an unbelievable sense of the resident’s concerns and desires," Jacobs said.
