Jacobs Thrilled by Suozzi Exec Candidacy

Nassau Legislator praises Suozzi's innovation, out-of-the-box thinking, and experience.

Tom Suozzi's announcment that he will enter the race for Nassau County Executive has thrilled area Democrats, including Nassau Legislator Judy Jacobs.

"I cannot for the life of me think of a more qualified person than someone who already took this county from close to bankruptcy to getting 13 bond upgrades," said Jacobs, D-Woodbury.

Jacobs said Wednesday she feels confident in Suozzi's ability to revive Nassau County because he has already done so.

"The challenges he would face this time are not unlike what he faced when he came in last time," she said, referencing the challenging economic situation currently facing the county.

Suozzi served as County Executive from 2002-2010.

"[The county] is not quite as down as we were when he was elected, but it's certainly lower than when he left," said Jacobs, referencing three consecutive bond downgrades in Nassau County.

"His innovation and out of the box thinking will be the only thing to get us back on track."

"He's experienced, he's knowledgable, he's an excellent person and I'm really pleased he will represent us on the Democratic ticket," said Jacobs.

Roslyn School Board member Adam Haber also announced his candidacy in January on the Democratic ticket.

Richard, I agree. This road has so many potholes that were fixed, it dips and the county trees haveRead More lifted it up in areas that now hold water. I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
