Nassau Readies for Marathon, Coliseum Proposals

Residents looking to enjoy the nice weekend weather may want to avoid certain parts of Nassau County as the 2013 RXR Long Island Marathon hits the area this weekend.

Numerous roads will be closed in the area surrounding Nassau's HUB and Eisenhower Park starting Saturday with the one-mile and 5K races and concluding Sunday with the 10K, half and full marathons.

MSG, Barclays Developer Square Off For Coliseum

It appears that the biggest New York rivalry at the Nassau Coliseum won’t be between the Islanders and Rangers, but between potential developers of the property.

The Madison Square Garden Company and Bruce Ratner, the man behind Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, were among four developers who unveiled their plans for a revitalized Nassau Coliseum Thursday afternoon in front of County Executive Ed Mangano.

Nassau Dems Select RVC Resident to Run for County Clerk

Nassau County Democrats have chosen Rockville Centre resident Laura Gillen to run against Republican County Clerk Maureen O'Connell in November.

Gillen officially announced her candidacy for county clerk last week in Seaford.
