Oyster Bay and the Environment: How are We Doing?

The Town of Oyster Bay has announced a new green initiative. How environmentally friendly are we in Plainview and town-wide?

The Town of Oyster Bay has unveiled a new initiative designed to be more environmentally friendly.

Town officials point to the new compressed natural gas fueling station at the Department of Public Works in Syosset. Officials say it will cut the town's petroleum usage by about 264,000 a year and reduce greenhouse gases by 27 percent.

But Oyster Bay is a big place, stretching from Long Island Sound to the Ocean with Plainview in the middle. Are there environmental projects that need to be addressed by the town that have fallen through the cracks?

Are some of the issues more down to earth, like ground water runnoff and park clean-up and preservation?

How strongly do you feel about the local environment from a Plainview and Oyster Bay resident's perspective?

Richard, I agree. This road has so many potholes that were fixed, it dips and the county trees haveRead More lifted it up in areas that now hold water. I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
