No Tax Hike In TOBAY Spending Plan

The Town Board adopted a preliminary budget that keeps 2012 spending nearly flat.

The s Proposed 2012 Budget contains no tax hike, according to town officials.

Without public debate or discussion, the board voted unanimously to adopt the spending plan at Tuesday's meeting. The document itself is still being printed and will be available to the public soon, said town spokeswoman Phyllis Barry.

Barry said the 2012 spending plan calls for no new taxes and keeps overall spending at 2011 levels.

After adopting the preliminary budget, the board set the date and times for two public hearings on the proposal. Both hearings will be held on Tuesday Oct. 18. One at 10 a.m.; the other at 7 p.m.

The adopted total town budget for 2011 was $243 million. That document is available on the town's web site by clicking through to the comptroller's office.
