Holy Trinity Sophomore takes 3rd place for essay about pride in serving in the military.

Meghan Kingsley, a Plainview resident and sophomore at Holy Trinity Diocesan High School, was honored with 3rd place in the annual “Voice of Democracy” essay contest held by the Hicksville VFW for the district’s students.

This year’s theme was, “Is There Pride In Serving in Our Military?” Teachers from three Hicksville schools judged the essays. They were then read and judged by members of the William Gouse Post 3211.

The awards ceremony was held on March 12. Unfortunately, Meghan was home ill, but her proud parents were in attendance and received her award, which was presented by John Rezin of the post.
