You won't have to leave town today to have fun and help out those in need. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is hosting a free concert tonight to benefit those in need.
TODAY's 5:
1. in Plainview will host a free blues and rock Thursday, July 19 at 7:30 p.m. on its expansive lawn. The benefit is to help stock the pantry at the New Life Center in Uniondale. Bring some non-perishable items to donate and a chair and enjoy the show.
2. Strong storms caused along the North Shore late Wednesday but Plainview was largely spared. If you have photos, send them our way.
3. The storm had the effect of moderating our heat wave. Cooler weather is on tap today, with temperatures reaching only the mid-80s during the afternoon. There is a chance for scattered showers tonight.
