Plainview Student Honored as Eagle Scout

Benjamin Weiss achieves Eagle Scout status with engineering project at nearby preschool.

Plainview's Benjamin Weiss was recognized at an Eagle Scout Court at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Syosset.

Weiss was honored at the ceremony by many, including Nassau Legislator Judy Jacobs, who said she was honored to attend the ceremony for such an outstanding young man.

Also at the ceremony were Weiss' father Jed, sister Sam, and mother Debbie.

Weiss aspires to be an engineer and is president of the Robotics and Engineering Club at Plainview JFK High School.

His Eagle Scout project was to create a recreation area for children attending the Huntington Head Start Preschool. The project entailed cleaning decris, constructing a walking path, building picnic tables, and planting bushes and shrubs, according to Jacobs.
