Plainview Water District Announces Annual Poster Contest

Elementary students invited to compete; theme is water conservation.

The Plainview Water District is inviting all elementary school students in grades 1-6 within the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District to participate in its annual poster contest.

This year’s contest will focus on the question, “What do I like about our tap water and why we need to conserve this precious resource?”  All poster submissions will be judged by the Water District’s Board of Commissioners Joel Kessler, Andrew Bader, and Edward Shulroff.

“Our annual poster contest is a great way for students to get creative while learning and raising awareness about water conservation,” said Chairman Kessler. “Throughout the years, we have been able to provide students in the community with a unique opportunity to demonstrate their ideas for conserving our tap water.”

Winners from each grade will be chosen based on the entry that conveys the best message. Students are encouraged to express their creative answer by drawing and coloring their artistic reply to the question on 11” by 14” paper.

The deadline for poster entries is Thursday, May 9, 2013 and the winners from each grade will receive their award at the Board of Commissioner’s meeting on Tuesday, June 18, 2013.
