The and its commissioners honored the winners of the 2011 Water Conservation Poster Contest during an awards ceremony on Tuesday, June 14.
Plainview-Old Bethpage students took part in this springtime tradition, creating their own original poster artwork on the topic of water conservation and how it relates to a healthy environment.
The three commissioners, Edward Shulroff, Andrew Bader and Joel Kessler, voted on the top three entries from each grade level. First-place winners received a $100 U.S. savings bond; $50 bonds were awarded to second and third-place winners.
The winners of the 2011 Water Conservation Poster Contest are:
Second Grade: Stella Chen, Neeya Shetty and Ignacio Torrico
Third Grade: Lauren Park, Cleopatra Dallaris and Skylar Musick
Fourth Grade: Rachael Vulcano, Gabriella Perchekly, Sung Min Ham and Shawn George
Fifth Grade: Angelina Kim, Jillian Lambdin and Stephanie Cheng
Sixth Grade: Julie Chong, Vincent Tung and Jordan Blank .
