Shellfishing Closed in West Harbor for Holiday Week

Classic car shows begin, Town services altered for Independence Day.

West Harbor Closed to Shellfishing Through July 10

The West Harbor section of Oyster Bay Harbor will be closed to shellfishing through July 10. Town officials said the restriction stems from potential contamination of shellfish from the volume of boaters.

Affected areas include all water and tributaries in the West Harbor "lying east of a line extending northerly from the northwestern-most point of land approximately 600 yards north of Brickyard Point on Centre Island to the western-most point of the beach pavilion at Centre Island Beach and lying west of Centre Island," said the town.
