Street Renamed for Sister Jackie Walsh

Ceremonial renaming honors beloved nun who was killed last summer.

A dedicated and beloved nun who died in a tragic hit-and-run crash last summer has been honored with a ceremonial street renaming in her memory.

"Sister Jackie Walsh Way" is the new name for the corner of Teibrook Avenue and Jackson Avenue in Syosset.

Oyster Bay Town Councilman Chris J. Coschignano, a parishioner at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Syosset, spearheaded the campaign. He was joined by fellow congregants and colleagues in government, including family members, and other elected officials.
