TOBAY Race: Town Clerk Candidates

Incumbent Republican Steve Labriola faces Democratic challenger Mike Canzoneri, both of Massapequa.

Challenger Mike Canzoneri

, the Democratic challenger for , is a longtime Massapequa resident. He holds a degree in fine arts from City College in New York and has worked in the film industry and at Newsday in the collating and press union. He has stated a strong support for unions and working people. He teaches driver’s education for a private company that serves Long Island school districts. Canzoneri is also a member of the Independence Party.

Canzoneri has not been available for a video interview thus far.

Incumbent Steve Labriola

Incumbent Town Clerk , a Massapequa Republican, is a member of a number of community and civic organizations, including the Order of Sons of Italy in America, Knights of Columbus and the Knights of Pythias. The former New York state assemblyman has served as town clerk since 2003. He is involved with Nassau County Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.

Labriola has stressed his experience in government and his efforts to modernize town operations related to the clerk's position. Born and raised in Massapequa Park, he holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Government, Politics, and Public Administration from St. John’s University.
