Town Hosting Clothing Drive Saturday, Sunday in 3 Locations

Big turnout to these events Saturday afternoon. Clothing drive will help people who are need.

On Saturday and Sunday from 12-5 p.m., the Town of Oyster Bay will hold a drive where residents can pick up and drop off clothing.

Those donating are encouraged to bring adult and children’s clothing, shoes, blankets, coats and children’s toys. The drive will be held at the Oyster Bay Community Center on Church Street in Oyster Bay, Woodbury Community Park, and Marjorie R. Post Community Park.

“I’m hopeful that providing residents in their time of need will go a long way toward making the current situation we all find ourselves in a little more tolerable, as clean-up and restoration efforts progress,” Supervisor John Venditto said.

Donations of clothing, shoes, blankets, coats and children's toys will be collected on Saturday. On Sunday, between noon and 5, the Town will distribute these items to any and all residents in need.

"We hope this drive will provide some relief in the face of falling temperatures," said Councilwoman Rebecca Alesia of Plainview.

Where can we donate food for the pets? I'll bring some there and someone who needs it can pick it up.

Syosset-Woodbury turned me away at 4:45 saying they were at capacity, and no donations tomorrow. Can you please update the story with other local spots (if any) that will accept clothing, shoes and baby items on Sunday?

It would be great if we could leave donations at the Library. Any chance this can happen. Everyone is afraid of driving anywhere.
