Uncovered: Tower Glimmers on Manetto Hill

This photo was shot Wednesday as the sun peaked out in the early afternoon. The elevated tower has been undergoing major renovations for months now as part of a implemented by the Plainview Water District. For several months, the tower has been The giant drop cloth prevented debris from raining down on residents.

Water District officials say a specialized painting firm will be hired to stencil the name "Plainview" across the face of the 1.25 million gallon tank, also known as Water Plant No. 2. When completed, it will look much like a freshened version of the familiar one that has stood at that site for more than half a century.

The district distributes its product through 130 miles of water mains to about 32,000 people.
