Historic buildings now being used to help grow Long Island's future by expanding film industry in Nassau County

These were once the buildings where Long Islanders built the moon ships that took astronauts to the stars... now the historic Grumman facility in Bethpage is seeing different kinds of stars... movie stars.

Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano says he is strongly supporting and encouraging the film industry to grow on Long Island as a means of bringing more jobs to the area. Parviz Farahzad, owner of Grumman Studios says he is trying to honor the history of the buildings while giving them a useful future and create jobs for Long Island. The Grumman facility is where the Lunar Module that landed astronauts on the moon in the late 60's and 70's was developed and built, in addition to numerous military aircraft.

The facilities are now studio spaces for movies, the latest being the 2010 film Salt starring Angelina Jolie. Just in time for the Long Island International Film Expo in Bellmore next week, take a look at how the movie industry is expanding on Long Island with a walk through tour of Grumman Studios in Bethpage.
