Water Main Breaks Reported in Plainview

Water District responds quickly to make repairs.

The Plainview Water District has seen several water main breaks over the course of the weekend and is working to repair the problems.

"Due to the swings in the temperature lately, such as thawing then freezing, we have experienced some water main breaks," said Water Commissioner Andrew Bader. "These are usual in the winter, especially when the temperature fluctuates in this manner."

Water main breaks have been reported on South Oyster Bay Road at Woodbury Road, Old Country Road and Old Bethpage Road and on Northern Parkway East.

The Plainview Water District had a team of workers on site within moments of Sunday's break and repairs have been made," Bader said.

"Luckily this did not happen on a weekday or when temperatures were below freezing as Old Country Road would have froze over."
