Why Can't the MTA Run on Time [Poll]

The MTA's "East Side Access" plan may be delayed until 2019.

The now says its tunnel project to provide LIRR riders direct access to Grand Central Terminal might be delayed until 2019.

The MTA says problems have emerged beneath Jamaica Station, including contaminated soil and unexpected underground water sources. The project was originally planned for completion in 2015. The authority has brought in tunneling experts from Europe to help solve the problems.

The East Side Access project would cut some 40 minutes from a typical journey made by LIRR riders whose ultimate destination is the East Side of Manhattan. Now, all LIRR trains end at Penn Station, on the West Side. If you've ever tried to get to Grand Central from Hicksville - either by cab from Penn Station or by subway from Jamaica, you know what we mean.

Why does it seem the can't get things done on time?

Why do problems always seem to crop up with their ?

Richard, I agree. This road has so many potholes that were fixed, it dips and the county trees haveRead More lifted it up in areas that now hold water. I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
