Prayer in response to the tragedy in Newtown Connecticut

This prayer was recited at Manetto Hill Jewish Center immediatly prior to the Torah Service on Shabbat December 15,2012.

Our Heavenly parent, hear our voices

אבינו שבשמים שמע קולינו

as the world unites in prayer and compassion

העולם מתיחד בתפילה וחמלה

together with the people of Newtown Connecticut.

יחד עם אנשים של ניוטאון קונטיקט

We pray for all children and teachers of Sandy Hook Elementary School.

אנו מתפללים בעבור הילדים והמורים של בית הספר סנדי הוק

Bless them with your kindness and protect their families

בריך אותם בחסדך והגן על משפחותיהם

Bless those who are wounded with refuah shelayma, healing of body and a healing of spirit

ושלח רפואה שלמה לכל הפצעות

Embrace the souls who have departed this world

אמץ את הנשמות שעזבו מעולם הזה

console those who mourn.

מנחם מי שמתאבל

and comfort the bewildered.

עזור מי שמבולבל

Help us each to build a world safe for children

עזרה כולנו לבנות עולם בטוח לילדים

that they may live, learn and work towards creating a better world reflecting Your sovereignty.

שהם יכולים לחיות, ללמוד ולתקן עולם במלכות שדי

And let us say: Amen.
