Obama's Problem is the System Itself

The Obama Problem is America's Problem

The "Obama Problem" is America's Problem

The memory of Senator Barack Obama's 2008 campaign for the Presidency of the United States of America is one ingrained in every citizen's daily lives.  Unfortunately, it is more felt for what has yet to materialize than for the promise of a new direction we so desperately needed then and continue to need now.

The economy is stagnant.  Anger over wars once televised by the minute has waned. Washington is as divided and unsympathetic as ever. Reports of unimaginable corporate greed and collapse have been replaced by stories of rising unemployment too close for comfort. The talk around the water cooler, if you are fortunate to have a job where one exists, is fraught with words like "jobs bill" "debt ceiling" and "oh God, please, not another bailout."

How could all this have happened so quickly? Wasn't Obama supposed to save us?  Let's face it, Obama never had a chance.

The Republicans in Washington D.C. couldn't be happier about the mess they have so skillfully birthed; the Democrats couldn't be more powerless, outmatched and inept to stop the onslaught.

The turbulence, which has nothing to do with fights over the best policies for our county - only the best policies for political victories, opens the door for such wonderbrains as Michelle Bachmann to have a national voice. Is Obama so bad that people look at Bachmann and actually believe this facts-be-damned hate-monger has something to say worth hearing?

No. The failure of our President is actually very simple. He was paraded to our nation's capital on the promise of change we can believe in. Then he got to Washington.

He was thrust into a world where change was either unwelcome or unattainable.  House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Republicans, shook his hand and didn't even wait for him to turn around before reaching around to stab him in the back.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Democrats, stood by and fought with each other over how to block the blade and came up with not a single plan to do so.

The next day, Obama once again extended his hand to Boehner and McConnell with Reid and Pelosi at his side. The result was exactly the same.

This is the Obama problem which of course is our problem.  So much potential; so much naivety. We elected someone to change a system of governance that garners little to no support, yet we allow that system to push back in the name of false outrage and the promise of solutions that will help us tomorrow.

Mr. President - Boehner and McConnell will never allow you to do your job. Yes they want you to fail. Reid and Pelosi are spineless and incapable of assisting you in your job. No: They do not know how to help you succeed.

You are on your own. You were elected to lead. The sooner you realize this, the sooner you might figure out a way out of your mess, which, more importantly, is our mess.
