Why is No One Shocked by Congress?

Looking at politics through a simple lens...

Wow.  Congress isn’t learning.  Shocking I say.  Shocking! Wait a minute.  Nobody is shocked.  Everyone is shaking their head in disgust, but that is only lasting 5 seconds.  Could it be our leaders are so in tune to our apathy that they know they can get away with being disgraceful?  Oh I think yes.

Yesterday, the House defeated its own temporary spending bill which would keep the government running through November.  If that isn’t scary enough, the bill included billions of dollars for disaster relief in the wake of Hurricane Irene, Tropical Storm Lee and other events such as wildfires in Texas.

At issue for those voting no – newly elected Tea Party Republicans pandering to their party on promises to reduce spending.  Those suffering from recent natural disasters be damned!  We need voters in our districts to believe FEMA costs too much and that matters more than you who just lost your homes and maybe even a loved one. On the other side of the aisle; all but 6 Democrats voted no.  At issue for them – We have a great opportunity here to embarrass Speaker Boehner.  Since he is always so mean to us and mean to Obama, we must use this opportunity to make him look bad.  We need voters in our districts to see how evil the GOP is and that matters more than you who just lost your homes and maybe even a loved one.
