Panel Discussion: Jews by Choice, Jews by Challenge
Study Session: The Modern Day Conversion Dilemma
Beginning with Mincha/Ma'ariv (7:45pm)
Join them for a light dinner, delicious desserts and a stimulating discussion. On Shavuot, the anniversary of the Jewish people receiving the Torah at Mt. Sinai, we celebrate those who have made an active choice to receive the Torah in their lives. Their panel discussion will include Jews by Choice, those who have embraced Judaism after being raised in another faith community; and Jews by Challenge, those who have overcome challenges of persecution and isolation to reaffirm their commitment to Judaism. Their panel discussion will be followed by a study session, led by Rabbi Conn, on the politics of conversion to Judaism within the Jewish community, and the actual sources from their tradition that we should be using to guide our efforts.
Free and open to the public.
