Good Shepherd's Harvest Fest Moved to Sunday

The big event, featuring features fun for the kids and delights for adults, has been moved to Sunday because of the expected bad weather.

The magic of the fall season comes to in Plainview Sunday as the congregation sponsors its annual Fall Harvest Festival.

Activities planned include pony rides, face painting, scarecrow making and a costume parade for the kids. And, there will be raffles, a farmers market and a bake sale for the adults.

The Harvest Fest kicks off at noon Sunday, Oct. 30, with a costume parade. Children of all ages are encouraged to come dressed to impress.

"Seniors Citizens from the Shepherd Hill Apartments will line our parade route, making this joyous procession excitingly intergenerational," said the Rev. Eric Olsen, pastor of Good Shepherd.

The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, but organizers have moved it to Sunday because of expected inclement weather. Sunday's festival will run from noon until 4 p.m. on the grounds of Good Shepherd, located at 99 Central Park Road in Plainview, just south of the

The cost for the children’s activities is a modest $10 in advance and $15 at the door, but not to exceed $25 for a family, church leaders said. 

The price includes one pony ride and all the other children’s activities. Visitors can stop by the school to buy tickets in advance from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

The Veterans Administration will be collecting clothing, blankets and shoes for the needy.
