Holy Trinity Choir Wins Disney Competition

Hicksville and Bethpage students participate in "Festival Disney" in Orlando.

The 22 members of the s Select Choir received a prestigious honor at the “Festival Disney” music competition earlier this month.

The Select Choir received a “Superior” rating, the highest rating that can be awarded, which resulted in receiving the “Best in Class” award among all jazz choirs. The group also placed second among all the specialty choirs entered (show choirs, jazz choirs and madrigal choirs).

The choir has been preparing for this competition since January and performed four pieces on April 14.

Hicksville residents Rebecca Clifton, Courtney Ruvolo, Clare Quinn, Danny Artuso and Bethpage resident Sal Valentinetti are members of the Choir.

Senior Christina Mastrangelo, of East Northport, the president of the Select Choir, received the “Best in Class” award for the group, along with vice president, Daniel Artuso, also a senior. Both of these students have been with the group for three years.

Mastangelo was in tears as she brought the award back to the group sitting in the stands, “All of our hard work paid off.”

Senior Richard Kormos reflected on the competition and the trip: “It was one of the best experiences and I got to share it with the best people.”

Choir Director Ann-Marie Hoher was touched by a comment the group received from one of the adjudicators, “I was blessed to have heard you.”

The definition of STOP in the driving world is " the complete cessation of movement".Read More Sound like many people think STOP signs mean 1. Slow To Observe Police or 2. Slightly Touch On (brake) pedal. Time to go to traffic school online at www.oltep.com. Relearn what you forgot from Driver's Ed. Stay Safe

Stop means stop. Just like stop signs, where it seems like the local definition is to slow down toRead More 30 mph. You STOP, and look. Then go. I have seen kids having a tough time crossing Jamaica Ave because of this twisted definition of STOP. If anything, this is a good way to relearn what should of been taught in drivers ed. When I moved to Plainview, people at a stop sign would signal the driver that got there first to go. Now it's a race to the stop sign and fly by it to avoid having the other guy go first.
