Interactive Health and Safety Fair Coming to Plainview Schools
Students to Learn about Emergency Medicine & Healthy Eating Habits
The Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District has joined forces with the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine to provide hundreds of students and community members with an interactive health and safety fair on Wednesday.
Students, parents and teachers will kick off the event with a one-mile fun run around the school’s track to promote a healthy lifestyle.
Attendees will participate in hands-on activities using electronic equipment, simulating an actual operation and diagnosing various health symptoms, organizers said.
The fair will also teach students a variety of emergency medicine and sports safety tips, a lesson on how to read nutrition labels, how to treat injuries from various plants and animals and more. A healthy cooking demonstration will also be provided for attendees.
The event, open to the public, will take place Wednesday from 3:30 -7 p.m. at the Mattlin Middle School. Students and the public will be joined by members of the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine Students and Health Sciences Library students.
