Special education students picked up the opportunity to gain valuable experiences in the workforce through the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District’s John F. Kennedy  High School Life Skills Program.

The program allows students to connect with local businesses in a work-study relationship to gain valuable work experience to prepare them for life after high school.

Recently, JFK student Freddie Cooke participated in the work-study program at the newly-opened Modell’s Sporting Goods in Plainview.

Freddie learned various skills that will help him succeed after graduation, including the importance of customer service relations, assisting staff members and learning how to stock shelves and take inventory.
