JFK Hosts DECA Installation

More than 220 members join the international business-marketing association in Plainview.

held its annual recently, welcoming over 220 members. DECA is an international business-marketing association made up of both students and teachers at the high school and collegiate level.

The organization prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for business-related fields. Many of the students were returning for a consecutive year, including New York State DECA secretary Matthew Getzoff.

The ceremony began with welcoming statements from President Melissa Ilgner and high school assistant principal Sharon Lasher, the coordinator of the business department. Justin Silver, an alumni and former DECA president at JFK, delivered the keynote speech. Silver is currently a senior at New York University’s Stern School of Business.

Plainview JFK officials are grateful to DECA advisors Lindsay Mandell, Jennifer Santorello and Michael Secko for the work, encouragement, and support they provide to new and returning members throughout the year.
