LaValle Offers Civics Lesson for Mattlin Students

State senator addresses students on government and elections.

State Senator Kenneth LaValle met with Mattlin Middle School students last week as part of an ongoing lesson in government and civics.

LaValle, R-Port Jefferson, accepted the invitation of Ms. Diane Sandler and Ms. Deanna Consiglioto to meet with their students. In preparation of his visit, the teachers worked with their students to generate questions that they would ask during the presentation.

The Senator talked to the children about various topics, such as the branches of government, his role as a senator and the election process. As a former educator and administrator, LaValle spoke at length about issues related to education, state testing and school safety.
