'Little Doctors' Blood Drive' Comes to Mattlin Tuesday

Annual event needs your support; great learning opportunity for students.

Plainview's favorite blood drive of the year takes place Tuesday.

The Mattlin 'Little Doctors' Blood Drive' will be held at the Mattlin Middle School cafeteria from 3:30- 9:30 p.m.

This event began with Mattlin 5th graders participating in a presentation in class on the need for, and uses of, blood. The students were given the challenge of trying to get 10 people to pledge to donate at the drive.

Their teachers have chosen a group of interested students to serve as "Little Doctors" at the drive. These Little Doctors are given scrubs to wear, greet donors, make thank you notes for each donor and help register donors.

Each year, the event has proved to be an exciting learning opportunity for the students about community activism and selfless giving.

Julie Kessler and Beverly Sender, who chair the POB PTA Council Blood Drives, thank the community in advance for their support,

Richard, I agree. This road has so many potholes that were fixed, it dips and the county trees haveRead More lifted it up in areas that now hold water. I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
