Plainview JFK Has 14 National Merit 'Commended' Students

District recognizes group for outstanding academic achievement.

Fourteen Plainview JFK High School students have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation as Commended Students in the 2012-13 competition, the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District announced Wednesday.

Plainview students Katherine Huang-Ouyang, Joanna Eagle, Eileen Koh, Jasmin Kang, Jeremy Friedell, Adam Gabalski, Rachel Bright, Natalie Borowski, Jennifer Wang, Kevin Koo, Joseph Yi, James Shamul, Fred Lee and Malcolm Lorber were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for their outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying (PSAT/NMSQT) Exam.

These academically talented high school seniors received this commendation for scoring in the top 50,000 out of the 1.5 million students who participated in the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test last October.

I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
