Plainview JFK PTA to Host Chili Cook-Off

Second-annual benefit to raise money for scholarship campaign.

The call and a challenge has gone out to all Plainview-area cooks and chili lovers.

The PTA of Plainview JFK High School is announcing its 2nd annual “POB’s Most Delicious” Chili Cook-Off – a fundraiser to benefit the Dollars for Scholars Scholarship Campaign. The scholarships are presented to graduating seniors for their dedicated involvement in school and/or community or their family.

Registration is now open for this people’s choice competition. Registration is simple; complete the entry form found at www.pobjfkpta.com and send a $25 check.

“This {event} brings all members-teachers, students, administrators-together,” said Sharon Lasher, the high school’s assistant principal. Last year about 120 attendees tasted 13 chili team’s offerings, which ranged from sweet to spicy, meat to vegetarian.

While enjoying and voting for your favorite chili recipe, attendees can enjoy performances by High School musicians including a cappella groups, the Chamber Music students and the Jazz Ensemble.

The public is invited to tast the flavors of Plainview-Old Bethpage on Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 7-9 p.m. in the High School Gym. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10 or you can save through the PTA’s advance ticket sales:  students $5 receive one voting ticket; Adults: $7 receive one voting ticket; and the Family 5 Pack: $25 receives five voting tickets.

Please make checks payable to POBJFK PTA, 50 Kennedy Dr. Plainview, NY 11803

Richard, I agree. This road has so many potholes that were fixed, it dips and the county trees haveRead More lifted it up in areas that now hold water. I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
