Rene Sandler, a student at Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District’s John F. Kennedy High School, recently received the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
Sandler was honored for her "dedication and exemplary community service efforts," according to the school district.
Rene was presented the award for her leadership and for encouraging her peers to help others. The distinction was awarded by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of U.S. President Barack Obama.
