Plainview Looking Sharp at Marching Band Festival

Plainview JFK musicians, performers shine at annual festival at Hofstra.

The Plainview JFK Marching Band looked and sounded great at this week's annual marching band competition at Hofstra.

By all accounts, the well-drilled 88-member team under the direction of Band Director Jerry Loeb put on an outstanding performance under the lights at Hofstra.

The band performed "Vehicle" and the Beatles favorite "Lady Madonna" for their part in the 51st annual Newsday Marching Band Festival on Tuesday at Hofstra University Stadium, where bands across Long Island showcase their “halftime show."

Mr. Loeb was assisted by Neil Wallowitz, Pamela Basile, and Brett Colangelo. The marching band was joined by the JFK Flag Line under the direction of Elizabeth Christie.

Drum majors Andrew Hasher, Nicolette Almer and Gregory Kantor conducted the performance on the field.

Special thanks to the parents and band members who sent us these photos of the event and to Greg Kantor for his contribution.

And, if you've got a great shot, send it our way. We'll add them to this gallery.
