Plainview PTA Sponsors Chili Cook-Off

Fundraiser to benefit Dollars for Scholars scholarship campaign at JFK.

It's a certainty that the cooks down in Plainview, Texas, can make a fire-breathing chili.

But chili from Plainview, Long Island? Why not?

The PTA of High School is calling out all local chili chefs in announcing their first-annual "Chili Cook-Off," – a fundraiser to benefit the Dollars for Scholars Scholarship Campaign.

“This is a great opportunity for people of all ages to celebrate our caring and hard working students, as well as to raise money for a scholarship which recognizes graduating seniors for their commitment and dedication in our local community”, says Cheryl Dender, college awards vice president.

What better way to celebrate the Leap Day than tasting the best chili the P-OB Community has to offer, organizers said. Registration is now open; to register, complete the entry form found at www.pobjfkpta.com and send a $25 check.

While enjoying and voting for your favorite chili recipe, attendees can sit back and enjoy performances by the high school's musicians, including two   groups, the students and members of the  

The fundraiser will also showcase the cooking talents of the high school culinary students. 

The event takes place on Leap Day, Feb. 29, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. at the high school gym.

Tickets are $10 at the door or available in advance through the PTA’s advance ticket sales: Students ($5) receive one voting ticket; Adults ($7) receive one voting ticket; and the Family-5 Pack ($25) receives five voting tickets.
