Plainview School Budget Vote is Tuesday

We'll have a report today outlining the budget in simple, understandable terms and tell you about other school-related news all week.

Voters in the will go to the polls tomorrow, Tuesday, to decide the fate of the district's proposed 2012-2013 spending package. We'll have several reports all this week on the budget and the outcome of the vote.

Today: 5:

1. We've written about it for nearly two months, but the maintains all programs and contains a modest tax levy increase of a little more than 2 percent. The budget is well under the state's budget cap for Plainview.

4. A powerful presentation is planned Monday at the where the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center presents Reader's Theater and the In this presentation, actors recreate the story of Terezin, where much of this year's Long Island Reads selection, "The Lost Wife" by Alyson Richman, takes place. The event is free and open to all; 2 p.m.
